Benshi Workshop – Making Silent Films Speak
- Sunday, June 7, 15:00 Mousonturm Studio 3
- Workshop in Japanese with German translation
Only few people know that silent movies never were silent. There was always the vivid voice of a narrator who lent his voice to the characters and thus brought action to the happenings on the screen. In Japan, this narrator is called Benshi. Today, the internationally renowned Benshi Ichiro KATAOKA is one of the very few representatives of this traditional profession. Under his guidance you will be able to try out being a cinema narrator. Revive this fascinating tradition, which also existed in Germany. You don’t need to speak Japanese, every language is welcome!
