It is a sudden shock for the Wakana family: a diagnosis reveals that Reiko has cancer and only a short time left to live. As her husband and their two sons slowly try to cope with it, submerged problems seem to drive the situation into a desperate crisis. Director Yuya ISHII’s emotional family drama reflects on family values in modern society.
Director Bio
Yuya ISHII, born in Saitama Prefecture in 1983, studied at Osaka University of Arts. After the success of his graduation film BAREASSED JAPAN at PIA Filmfestival in 2007, he has made numerous internationally acclaimed films. In 2014, his film THE GREAT PASSAGE was bestowed with the renowned Kinema Junpo Award.
