The sanshin is a traditional string instrument from Okinawa, which is also known as the ancestor of the Japanese shamisen. Translated literally, the name of instrument clad with snake skin means “three strings”. Sanshin player Kanako HORIUCHI will give an introduction to the unique music of Okinawa and the rich tradition of this very popular instrument. Everybody is invited to try out the sanshin themselves.
