After learning that his friend Katsuko is going to die of breast cancer, director Ian Thomas Ash decides to document the remaining time of her life with his camera. In deeply intimate conversations, Katsuko reveals her thoughts and fears, wishes and regrets. -1287 is a heartbreaking tribute to a warm-hearted and courageous personality, inviting the audience to think profoundly about death and their own life.

Director Bio
Born in the United States, Ian Thomas Ash earned an MA in Film and Television Production at the University of Bristol (UK) in 2004. At the 2012 Rhode Island International Film Festival, Ash was honored with the “Filmmaker of the Future Award”. After the triple disaster of 2011, he has actively supported people in the affected areas. In 2013, he won the NIPPON VISIONS AWARD for A2­B­C. He has lived in Japan for 12 years and currently resides in Tokyo.
