Nippon Visions
The most promising productions of Japanese independent cinema are once again presented in our NIPPON VISIONS section. Films in a wide range of styles and genres give a detailed insight into the current situation of Japan’s society. Aging and dying in Japan is a subject of great social relevance, which inspired many filmmakers to the same degree as the consequences of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake. But apart from serious topics there are still lighthearted moments shining through in this year’s varied film selection.
A jury will award the most promising director of a feature length film with a free subtitling for an upcoming project. The NIPPON VISIONS JURY AWARD is sponsored by our partner, the Japan Visualmedia Translation Academy (JVTA). For the second time, the audience can vote for their favorite film in the competition for the NIPPON VISIONS AUDIENCE AWARD, endowed with 1,000 € by Japanisches Kulturzentrum in Frankfurt.
