Die japanische Filmindustrie und der japanische Film haben sich radikal verändert. Das Kino der alten Meister wie Akira KUROSAWA und Yasujiro OZU ist tot, an seiner Stelle steht eine völlig neue Medienindustrie, die jedes Jahr über 600 Filme ins Kino bringt. Was sind aktuelle Entwicklungen, wie können wir den neuen japanischen Film verstehen? Die Konferenz bietet Einblicke in die Veränderungen der Themen, Stile, Rezeptionsräume sowie der politischen Bedeutung des japanischen Gegenwartsfilms.
